St Francis’ Hospital provides out-patient and in-patients services in Medical, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Surgery, Ophthalmology and Pediatrics.

 It also provides advanced specialized healthcare to patients in Orthopedic surgery, Obstetric fistula, Urology, Ear Nose and Throat, Plastic and Cosmetic surgery through visiting specialist Doctors.
The hospital attends to over 70,000 out-patients and 25,000 in patients per year. It also conducts close 9,000 operation, 7,000 deliveries and 2,500 caesarean sections annually.

Services

St. Francis Hospital also offers a full range of services such as Laboratory, Dental, Radiology, Physiotherapy, Eye, Cervical Cancer screening, Gender Based Violence Survivor Support (GBV) and HIV/AIDS services.

Nursing programmes

St Francis’ has a nursing college with four programmes; Registered Nursing, Public Health Nursing, Midwifery and the abridged programme for Enrolled to Registered Nurse conversion.
The hospital is fully accredited by the Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) and the College of Surgeons of Eastern Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA) as an Internshipsite for Medical Doctors and Pharmacists and for post graduate surgical training respectively.

Specialty Training Programme

Accreditation has also been given for Specialty Training Programme (STP). The hospital hosts students for clinical attachments from within and outside the country.

Energy security

The hospital is connected to the national grid and has a standby generator backup in case of power outages. The hospital has a solar plant which provides the main supply to the Oxygen plant and a backup to and other critical services areas such as the Operating Theatre, Intensive Care Unit, Maternity and Children’s wards.

Overall best performing 2nd-3rd level hospital.

On the 28th of December Dr Mathews Ng’ambi, Provincial Health Director, awarded St Francis’ Mission Hospital the certificate of ‘overall best performing 2nd-3rd level hospital.
This festive occasion – a compliment to the dedicated staff at St Francis’, was held at the Chimwemwe Hotel in Petauke.
