The Muslim community donates two Boreholes to the hospital
The Muslim Association Trust in Katete, through the Borehole Water Project, has drilled two boreholes at the hospital to alleviate the effects of water shortage at the hospital. The Muslim Association has been supporting the community in the provision of safe drinking water through the drilling of boreholes.
One borehole will be fitted with manual hand pump to allow the community to access water even when there is no electricity while the other one will be connected to the existing water network.

Katete District has been worst hit by the water shortage due to climate change with the District main water source, the Katete Dam having dried up forcing the utility company to shut down water supply in the District.
Speaking during the presentation of the boreholes, the Trust Chairperson Siraz Ismail said “Water is life and his Association is glad to contribute to the provision of clean drinking water at the hospital.’
Speaking when receiving the donation, the Senior Hospital Administrator Mr. Fred Ntongwe said ‘the boreholes will improve access to clean drinking water and thanked the Muslim Community for supplementing the efforts in provision of clean drinking water’.
Currently, the hospital has five boreholes which are working and requires a minimum of 15 boreholes to sufficiently provide water to the hospital and the residential areas.
